About Candy Katoa, Psy.D.

Dr. Candy Katoa is an experienced licensed clinical psychologist in San Francisco, CA. In addition to her private practice, she is a clinician and educator at University of California San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She has been treating patients at UCSF’s Anxiety Disorders and OCD clinics since 2011. In over a decade of working with patients, she saw the need for more intensive services and developed UCSF's OCD Intensive Outpatient Program in 2022. She is now the Director of Psychology for the OCD clinic, where she oversees the clinic's outpatient and intensive outpatient programs. Dr. Katoa is also a volunteer faculty member at UCSF and serves as a Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor. In that role, she provides didactics and supervision to psychotherapists, psychology trainees, and psychiatry residents who are learning to be cognitive behavioral therapists. 

 

Dr. Katoa earned her doctoral degree from a joint program at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. She completed her predoctoral internship at Stanford University and her postdoctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente. She also completed other predoctoral training at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, Santa Clara University, and San Jose Job Corps.

 

After finishing her doctoral degree, Dr. Katoa went on to obtain more extensive training in the treatment of OCD through the International OCD Foundation Behavioral Therapy Training Institute. She also received comprehensive training in the treatment of tics through the Tourette Syndrome Behavior Training Institute.
