Evidence-Based Therapy for Anxiety and OCD
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavior Therapy has been shown to be highly effective for the treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD and related disorders. I have utilized CBT for two decades and have seen many people get better from our work together. CBT is a treatment approach that can help you disrupt problematic thoughts or behavioral patterns, which then changes the way you feel. CBT focuses on the here-and-now, so that you can learn practical and effective strategies for coping. Our work will be collaborative and goal-oriented, which allows many people to experience symptom relief within a short period of time.
In my experience, therapy works best when it is customized to each individual's needs. In addition to traditional CBT, I have come to lean heavily on Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) in my work. Here are the ways I utilize different forms of CBT in my practice.
-
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety disorders
-
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) for values based living
-
Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation
-
Habit Reversal Therapy (HRT) for trichotillomania and dermatillomania
-
Comprehensive Behavior Intervention for Tics (CBIT)
-
Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi)
